Anonymous Donor Pledges $14,000 Scholarship for the 8th Consecutive Year

For the eighth consecutive year, an anonymous donor is providing a scholarship to a Chico High graduate who will attend California State University, Chico in Fall 2012 and major in Engineering.
The scholarship is $14,000 and distributed over 2 years. These scholarships have enriched the lives of CHS grads and provided them with the opportunity to attend a four year university. Meet the first two recipients and learn how this scholarship impacted their lives.

Fifty-two varsity head coaches, three hundred alumni, and friends who attended the Coaches' Reunion dinner on Saturday, August 21enjoyed many hugs and even more smiles together! The CHS Foundation board extends its sincere appreciation to the coaches, donors, alumni and guests for making the dinner such a resounding success and for supporting the CHS athletic department. Many high school athletes undoubtedly dream of becoming professional athletes, or at least reaching the big-time college level of competition. Statistically, few make it.
Even so, some people have the extraordinary opportunity to still be involved with major college and professional sports— not as athletes, but as observers and commentators. They’re living the dream and getting paid to do it.
New Chico High Athletics' Endowment Fund Established!

Show your appreciation to your Chico High School coach by donating to the newly established Athletic Endowment Fund. Your money will be placed into a permanent account and invested in the market ( 60% common stock and 40% bonds). The athletic director and a committee of coaches will determine how to spend the interest monies on an annual basis. The money could be used for a scholarship and/or needed supplies and equipment.

Just a little more than six decades ago, George Maderos sat on the bench in City College of San Francisco’s gymnasium.
“How’s your ankle?” asked his coach, Al Schlueter.
“Which ankle?” Maderos responded with a grin.

On paper, it figured to be a mismatch of such huge proportions that most people involved probably pondered the need to play the game at all.
1985 Chico High School Freshman Tennis Star, Matt Lucena, stood tall amongst senior and junior competitors

Though it was impossible to predict at the time, losing a singles match as a freshman turned out to be a pivotal moment for Matt Lucena.
It was the spring of 1985 and Lucena wasn’t even a student at Chico High School – rather, he was a ninth-grader at Chico Junior but standing tall among competitors who were typically juniors and seniors.

The students and teachers at your alma mater need your help now and in the future! The importance and value of education have never been more crucial for our youth and for the future of our country.
While it may seem overwhelming to change the national, state or even local systems of education, you can positively influence one school , one teacher, or one student at a place that matters to all of us... Chico High School (CHS)!
