Art Department

The Chico High School Art Program offers a wide variety of classes and opportunities for all skill levels. Our art program is standards based with all strands woven throughout the curriculum.

In addition, special emphasis is placed on learning the principles and elements of art. Students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of art sequences that cover a two to three year instructional sequence.

Courses offered are: Basic Design, Drawing 1 & 2, Sculpture, Painting, Ceramics 1, 2 & 3, Glass Design 1 & 2, Art through the Humanities, Computer Art 1, 2, & 3. The art department has worked to create a program of quality, rigor, choice, and opportunities for learning and success. Many students have gone on to various fields that are directly or indirectly related to the skills learned in these classes. Other students walk away with an appreciation of art and the value that it adds to all of our lives.

Current Needs
Beyond Our Budgets

We are one of the few remaining departments on the Chico High Campus that uses tools, equipment, and materials on a daily basis. Donor money would help us replace antiquated tools and equipment and maintain and repair current equipment. We would like to be able to ensure each student has access to working equipment and we would like to stay current in the field with new technology.
